Older men with diabetes may benefit from metformin, study finds

Researchers found that older men with type 2 diabetes who were on metformin therapy had a reduced risk of developing cancer, cardiovascular disease, dementia, depression and frailty-related diseases. The findings in the Journal of Diabetes and Its Complications, based on 41,204 men ages at least 65, also revealed an association between metformin use and a reduced mortality rate.
