Valerie Lieu

Research area : Microfluidics/Biomolecular

E-mail address: vlieu@u.washington.edu

Valerie Lieu is a PhD student in Chemical Engineering and the dual degree program of PhD in Nanotechnology at the University of Washington. She is a NSF UW bioenergy IGERT (Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship) trainee. She earned her Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University with research focused on Bioengineering and molecular biology. Her PhD research focuses on renewable energy from biomicroorganism by developing a microfluidic cell trapping platform for single-cell diagnostics.

Ike

IkechuKwu Nwaneshiudu

Research area : Microfluidics

Ikechukwu joined the group in 2008 after graduating from Haverford College with a B.S. in Chemistry. His current research efforts focus on the design and fabrication of a highlysensitive and robust optical sensor for microfluidic devices. Developing such a sensor has a wide range of applications including, environmental water quality
monitoring, lab on chip experimentation and detection.

NSF Bioenergy IGERT Fellow (2008-2011)

Tyler Andrew House

Research area : Microfluidics

Tyler joined the group in 2008 after graduating from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Physics. Since then, he has begun research into the fabrication and fluid dynamics of micro-eddy devices. By developing a rigorous model of high-frequency oscillatory flow in obstructed micro-channels, he hopes to better enlighten design towards more useful engineering applications such as single-cell capture and sorting.
