Message from the Principal Investigator
Welcome to our newly designed website. Wonderful developments are occurring within the Re-envisioning the Ph.D. Project, through national/international initiatives and
within individual institutions to effect change in doctoral education.
Within the Project, our newly designed website includes additional features such as a site search engine. Also new are Ph.D. Career Resources pages. Please take some time to look around the site. We hope to continue to serve all stakeholders in doctoral education, including research-extensive and intensive institutions, teaching-intensive institutions, K-12 education, doctoral student organizations, business and industry, government hiring and funding agencies, foundations, disciplinary societies, and educational associations
to address the question, "How can we re-envision the Ph.D. to meet the societal needs of the 21st Century?"
For current events, news and updates on happenings in doctoral education, our
Current News and Updates page will be of great service, and our About Us section will give you background on the Project, the team and the Advisory Board. We collect and showcase
Promising Practices in doctoral education and have organized these innovative practices by the sponsoring agency or institution and by topic. We continue to accept and receive new practices
through our Submissions Page.
The Project is participating in the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation's Responsive Ph.D., leading Sector meetings for this Initiative and providing print materials, web resources, Promising Practices, and outcomes of the Seattle 2000 Conference.
I continue to participate in the national dialog by attending and speaking at various conferences that are happening around the country on doctoral education, and working closely with The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.
We hope to continue to serve as a clearinghouse of information and dialogue on doctoral education. Please feel free to contact me or the Project with ideas and suggestions. This is your website, and we hope you will be an active participant.
