Welcome to MIZweb 2000/2004!

MIZweb is a collaborative project of the 2000 & 2004 classes in Marine Invertebrate Zoology (Biology 432) at the Friday Harbor Laboratories.  Here you will find information about select marine habitats around San Juan Island, WA and the diversity and natural history of animals that live in them.

These pages offer to educators a practical aid to hands-on field instruction, to researchers a quick orientation to local field sites, and to the general public a guide to the natural history of these field sites or others with similar physical characteristics. Especially for educators, we have included a set of field lesson plans that outline useful approaches to teaching about each habitat.
