    Student Team from PacTrans Partner OSU wins 2nd at International ESV Conference

    A group of four students from Oregon State University recently traveled to Kyoto Japan to compete in the Student Safety Technology Design Competition (SSTDC) as part of the 27th International Technical Conference on the Enhanced Safety of Vehicles (ESV). They won second at the world competition after winning first in North America to solidify their spot. Their project was titled, Interfacing Pedestrians, Automated Vehicles, and Connected Infrastructure: A Novel Application for Resolving Right-of-Way Conflicts, and competed in the “Pedestrian Crash Avoidance, Automated Driving Systems” category. Advised by PacTrans Associate Director, David Hurwitz, the team comprised Amy Wyman, Helena Breuer, Chris Hauck, and Jane Weber.

  • PacTrans Student Researcher One of Five UW Students named 2023 Goldwater Scholars

    UW STAR Lab undergraduate student researcher, Peter Yu, was recently among five UW students to have been honored as Goldwater Scholars by the Goldwater Foundation. This marks the first time five students from the UW were named in a single year.

  • OSU Student Researcher Serves on ODOT Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee

    Aaron Mendez, an Undergraduate Student Researcher from Oregon State University, serves on the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee (OBPAC). He is currently a senior, wrapping up his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

  • OSU ITE Student Chapter wins Western District Traffic Bowl

    A team of students from Oregon State University’s student chapter of the Institute of Traffic Engineers (ITE) recently won the Western District’s Traffic Bowl. The win qualified them to represent the Western District at the Collegiate Traffic Bowl Grand Championship that is held in conjunction with the International ITE Annual Meeting which will be held this year in Portland, OR in August.
