Inaugural UW CEE Capstone and Research Showcase Brings Students, Industry, and Community Together

On May 27, 2026, the University of Washington (UW) Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) hosted its inaugural Capstone and Research Showcase, bringing together undergrad and grad students, faculty, industry partners, alumni, and members of the broader CEE community to celebrate student achievement and innovation.

Stepping into the Lyceum, visitors were immediately greeted by a packed room buzzing with enthusiasm. Throughout the space, senior undergraduate students stood proudly beside their research posters, sharing the results of months of hard work. Students presented their projects through elevator pitches and engaged in thoughtful discussions about their real-world applications, all while receiving direct feedback from industry professionals and academic leaders. The positive response from attendees underscored the importance of creating spaces where students can showcase their talents.

PacTrans partnered with UW CEE to sponsor the showcase awards, strengthening the connection between academic research, industry collaboration, and workforce development.

Looking ahead, the future of the program is bright. With the current junior class representing the largest cohort in UW CEE history, PacTrans and UW CEE look forward to expanding the event into a larger venue, strengthening industry partnerships, and creating even more opportunities for students to learn, collaborate, and excel.
