Pacific Northwest National Labs (PNNL) is looking to hire at least two summer interns for data analytics work associated with the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma.  They are seeking either master’s or early PhD level applicants. (There are separate job descriptions for each category, so there are four intern positions attached.) Pay rates are dependent on each applicant’s education year and degree program.  The positions are intended to be at PNNL’s offices in Tri-Cities (cheap housing!), but a Seattle location is negotiable.

    The positions are as follows:

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s HPC-Big Data Solutions team is looking for a data engineer summer intern to help with Python based software development focused on organizing multi-modal transport data, development of data infrastructure with appropriate schema while ensuring data hygiene across scale. The intern will contribute to the team’s software development efforts and be expected to co-author publications with the PNNL team. The team uses Python, and C++ as programming languages, git for source control and github wiki for documentation.
    2. Data Scientist Intern: Big data analytics and high-performance computing are expected to transform the future of transportation, especially in rapidly growing large urban regions. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s HPC-Big Data Solutions team is looking for a data scientist summer intern to help with transportation analytics and Python based software development. The expected focus is on graph analytics, optimization methods and time-series data. The intern will contribute to the team’s scientific and software development efforts and be expected to co-author publications with the PNNL team.
