Many
advocacy organizations are teaming up with the entertainment industry
to provide accurate information and important media messages about teenage
pregnancy. The Internet is providing a safe and confidential outlet where
teens can get accurate information about teen sexuality issues. According
to a recent study, 68% of 12-24-year-olds have gotten health information
online, 44% have looked up information online about pregnancy, birth control,
HIV/AIDS, or other STDs.
Many popular
teen television programs have incorporated important messages about teen
sexuality. An episode of Dawsons Creek, for example, presented the
possibility that Joey, the programs main character, might be pregnant.
