Diabetes Research Center affiliate and co-director of the Center for Dialysis Innovation (CDI) Jonathan Himmelfarb won a prize for a backpack-size kidney-dialysis device. The award was announced by KidneyX, a partner with the American Society of Nephrology and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This is the third prize the CDI has won with KidneyX and another phase of competition will occur next year with the goal of integrating systems to create an artificial kidney.
