Study: Semaglutide effective for weight loss

A study in The New England Journal of Medicine found that adults who were overweight or had obesity who subscribed to a once-weekly treatment of subcutaneous semaglutide with lifestyle intervention for 68 weeks experienced more weight loss, compared with those treated with placebo with lifestyle intervention. The findings, based on data from 1,961 participants without diabetes, also revealed that those treated with semaglutide achieved greater improvements in terms of cardiometabolic risk factors, compared with those treated with placebo.
