At its 2022 Annual Scientific Sessions the American Diabetes Association announced the appointment of Steven Kahn as editor-in-chief of Diabetes Care, its leading journal that promotes better patient care by serving the expanded needs of all health professionals caring for patients with diabetes. Dr. Kahn indicated that the editorial team has been selected for its scientific expertise and to be more representative of the Diabetes Care readership as well as populations affected by diabetes. The team aims to increase submissions addressing issues related to the equity of healthcare delivery and outcomes for people with diabetes, thereby moving Diabetes Care towards being a premier journal promoting attention to health equity. Further, in this manner he and his colleagues hope to get investigators in the diabetes community to pay greater attention to using an equity lens in their methods and analysis, and clinicians to pay greater attention towards enhancing equity in their practices. Diabetes Research Center affiliate Kristina Utzschneider will be an associate editor and is joined by peers from across the globe. The associate editors include junior faculty with minimal to no experience as editors who were purposely chosen to allow them to develop this expertise.
