  • Dr. Mark Ziffer (2012-2018) is currently a postdoc in X.Y.Zhu’s Group at the Columbia University investigating electronic structure and charge carrier dynamics using EUV time-resolved two-photon photoemission spectroscopy. Way to go Mark!
  • Dr. Soumyadyuti Samai (2013-2017) is currently working as a Research Scientist at Corning Inc.  Congrats Soumya!
  • Dr. Sarah Vorpahl (2012-2017) worked as an MRS/OSA Science and Engineering Congressional Fellow in Sen. Bernie Sanders’ office after graduating! She is currently a Senior Energy Policy Specialist in the WA State Energy Office.  Way to go Sarah!
  • Dr. Dane DeQuilettes (2012-2017) is currently a postdoc in Vladimir Bulovic’s Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology working to save the world by developing novel photovoltaics.  Congrats Dane!
  • Prof. Hiroaki Benten (2017) Prof. Benten, currently at Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan, has visited our lab twice as a visiting professor, most recently in Autumn, 2017.
  • Dr. Zhaoxia Qian (postdoc 2015-2017) Is currently working in Seattle as both a mom and a professional data scientist.
  • Dr. Jie Zhang (2014-2017) is currently a postdoc in Alex Jen’s Group at the City University of Hong Kong.
  • Adam Colbert (Ph.D. 2016)defended his thesis titled, “Spectroscopic Characterization of Interfacial Charge Transfer and Recombination in Polymer/Quantum Dot Blends,” and worked at the startup company Voxtel, before moving to a new position at NRL.
  • Dr. David Moerman (2014-2016) is currently a postdoc in the Laboratory for Chemistry in Novel Materials at the University of Mons in Belgium.
  • Wenbi Wu (2016 B.S. Chemistry) is currently a graduate student at MIT.
  • Phillip Cox (2016 Ph.D. Chemistry)defended his thesis titled, “Local Imaging of Optoelectronic Properties and Film Degradation in Polymer/Fullerene Solar Cells with Electrostatic Force Microscopy,” and worked at Intel before moving to a staff scientist at the Washington Clean Energy Testbeds.

  • Michael Salvador (post doc 2009-2013) became a research scientist working in the lab of Prof. Dr. C. J. Brabec at Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research and is now part of KAUST Solar Center.
  • Elizabeth Strein (2013 PhD, Chemistry) successfully defended her thesis entitled, “Probing Photocurrent Generation Mechanisms in Hybrid IR-Senstive Quantum Dot/Conjugated Polymer Solar Cells.”
