Global WACh Announces the 2018 Seeds for Change Award Recipients
Global WACh is pleased to announce applicants selected for this year’s funding cycle of the Seeds for Change Resource Award to Strengthen Collaborative Sites. Congratulations to our three awardees!
Applicant | Site/Location | Award Amount | Purpose |
Dr. Anfilled Agwanda | Nyakach County Hospital, Kenya | $998 USD | Purchasing essential medical and diagnostic equipment |
Dr. James Mburu Kang’ethe | Kenyatta National Hospital, Kenya | $919 USD | Furnishing the HIV counseling and testing room in the post-natal ward |
Dominic Bosire | Katito Subcounty Hospital, Kenya | $997 USD | Painting the inpatient pediatric ward and water closets |
We received several excellent applications that outlined low-cost solutions to address gaps in patient care at applicants’ healthcare sites. A review committee—comprised of eight UW Department of Global Health faculty members and the International AIDS Research and Training Program (IARTP) and Program in Education and Research in Latin America (PERLA) Scholars—scored the proposals and selected ideas that demonstrated the greatest potential for the most feasible, impactful changes for patients.
Global WACh’s Seeds for Change Awards are small infrastructure grants (up to $1,000 USD) given to improve clinical care, patient satisfaction, workforce empowerment, and health service delivery for programs befitting the health of women, adolescents and children in resource-limited settings. Global WACh partners with awardees in the spirit that small changes can have a big impact.
