Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint

BOD123

My calculator showed that I had a lower-than-average carbon footprint, I think that transportation and electricity made up most of it. I have a 10 mile car ride to school which is 80 miles a week. Electricity also made up a big part of my footprint because I use alot of it. I also unfortunately waste alot of it by leaving on things, which wastes electrical power.

Dear BOD123
Walking to the school saves so much footprint and makes it look better, that's why we should all try to awoid driving car everytime we need to get something from store, school exc...For example I walk to school 3 to 4 times a week and bike once a week.Unless if it rains then my parents drive me with car.I think that least we can do to fix our footprints and lower is to walk as much as we can.

I agree, walking to school is much better for the environment. I see you have a 10 mile/16 kilometer drive to school though, and I know that's a pretty long walk. I also live far from my school and some things I do are: biking to school, taking public transit, and if you do need to drive, try not to do it as often. You can also talk to your parents about getting an electric car smile

Hope you have a good day

If you want to decrease your carbon footprint a lot, eat less meat. Steak and similar foods cause a lot of problems.

Another thing you could do would be to carpool, I know we are still in a pandemic but once it's done you could ride with more people to try and bring the ten mile impact down. Also to add on to what sarapolicar said, public transportations are a great way to get to school, especially if they are electric.

yeah I also cant walk to school, if you have access to a city bus, you could try that. and person above said carpool, if you have friends in the area good idea. also electric cars aren't the most affordable for everyone (me included) so carpools probably better. or get a rich friend to buy an electric car and carpool with them.
