Corporate responsibility (new topic, Sep 2021!)

How much responsibility do corporations have for the climate crisis and for stepping up with solutions?

Here at the ISCFC we are committed to promoting personal, community, national and planetary solutions to reduce our environmental impacts and boldly confront the climate crisis. But as individuals, we can feel powerless when there are huge corporations -such as the fossil fuel industry and factory farms– that are disproportionately responsible for carbon emissions of the past and the present.

What should we do about this? Do you agree that corporations should do more? And if so, what does that mean exactly? How do we persuade or impel polluting industries to change their ways?

why the heck is climate change political.

pippaharpster

Because corporations are the main producers of carbon, and those corporations are political hmm/////. In short, capitalism.

large corporations cause most of the Co2 production

Capitalism provides a free market, so companies cannot be controlled by the government, however, I do think that is important that there be laws against things like burning fossil fuels, like how there are safety regulations and the fda and all. I think people should protest.

Politics include money and if there's a change in ways to make it in the country they sadly need to know about it.

Regulating the corporations that are responsible for climate change requires legislation, therefore making it political. However, the corporations and the people who run them "donate" (pay off) politicians to not regulate them. From an American perspective, most of the time, these politicians are members of the Republican Party or the more centrist members of the Democratic Party.
