Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Wants or Needs?
There is a huge difference between wants and needs, something that you want could be a new shirt or some new headphones and a need is something like water, food, a home. Often, many of us confuse these two together and end up making un-intelligent or even regretful choices. An example of this could be that many people replace their electronic devices (especially cell phones) for the newest models because they think they need to stay up to trend. I think that people who do this should question themselves "do I really need this?", "Is my electronic device damaged or unusable that I need a new one?". Needs are something very important such as food, clean drinking water, a roof over your head, electricity, etc. We should learn to value and appreciate that we are fortunate enough to be able to meet our needs because many people can't. Next time you are at a store ask yourself if it's a need or a want.
This is a great point! I think that a lot pf people over look the fact that there choices in purchases might have a greater effect then the loss of money or the gain of a product. It is the smallest choices that can make a big difference like; buying used clothes instead of new, donating or giving away your old clothing instead of throwing it away. There are so many easy ways to save money, save other peoples money and reduce waist!
So, next time you go shopping and see a new shirt and the exact same used shirt pick the used one. (Make sure to wash it).
I agree with you. There are a lot of things that humans like or enjoy but don't necessarily need. For example some people love to take long showers, but by stopping or doing less of that action you could lower your carbon footprint considerably. So it comes down to you asking youeself do I need this long shower or new shirt, or do I want it? Just by asking yourself that question and being honest with yourself you could bring down your carbon footprint and probably save money too.
