Cody_T My Carbon Footprint (North Carolina)
My name is Cody and I am from Mooresville, North Carolina, USA! I’m 17 years old and I go to Mooresville High School. In our Environmental Earth Science class we figured out what our carbon footprint was. Mine was well below the region average. Mine was 11,067 while the region average was 15,918. There are multiple factors that go into effect to me having a lower carbon footprint. First of all I drive a fuel efficient car; it gets 30 MPG. My family is also very good at trying to conserve energy emissions. We use CFL light bulbs that help to save energy. Most of my emissions came from transportation though (4,368) but that is just because I drive a lot. I go from school to practice to home and to the gym basically every day. I was honestly surprised that my footprint was below average because I felt like during an average day I used a lot of energy. It really surprised me at my purchases (408). I usually don’t buy very many things, but it still surprised me that it was that low. I also learned that my house is more energy efficient than other households in our region. Hopefully in the future I can get my emissions lower.
