Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Food Waste + Leftovers at School

Beck_Areti

It's kind of distressing to see the food trays full of food thrown away at my school. So much food, including things like untouched apples, oranges, milk cartons, and pizza are tossed in the trash and forgotten without a thought. I remember my old school had a spot where you could put fruit + vegetables you hadn't eaten, and that food was free for kids to take home. That was good, but then over the last 2 years they stopped doing that to try to prevent spreading covid. I was vaguely wondering if there was something students could do with food waste + food leftover from lunch to decrease our carbon footprint without spreading covid-19, and thought it might be a good idea to try to get a sort of school compost bin going.
