Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling
Many people talk about making the world more conservative such as reducing, reusing, and recycling, but how do they propose to convince millions and millions of people to start caring about the environment? Just wanted to know what some of the solutions people had in mind of convincing individuals into conserving energy and such.
This is a great question. I think the first thing to do is start in schools. Education about the environment, climate change, and conserving resources should be integrated into school curriculums. Students should learn about what they can do to help solve the problem. At my high school, environmental education is mandatory, and issues regarding the environment are addressed all the time. As a result, I have become more aware to the issues the Earth faces, and have gotten better about playing my part in it all.
I think that along with the education in schools, governments could also institue a system of rewards for conserving besides the enviromental issues. Maybe we could have lower taxes the more we conserve every year?
Actually, there are some places were you can turn in things like cans or bottles, and get payed for them, and they all end up recycled. A couple years ago, I made 80$ by just turning in all the soda and beer cans my family used during the year.
i think that schools should influence and advertise these words more so that students will get familiar with the ideas of reducing reusing and recycling.
I think that you have to make sure that everyone learns in school about the environment, and how what we do effects the environment. We also have to teach how to be environmental, which causes younger people make the change from doing things bad for the environment with there waste, to doing things that are better for the environment.
I agree I think all should should have cans to separate garbage. Like compost, recycle, and landfill.
Education is a very important part in helping the environment
it is and thankfully more and more schools have started teaching more about it
