General information about the Aedes aegypti mosquito:
• It breeds in containers with accumulated water around the home.
• Lays its eggs on the walls of containers with water, where they can survive for
months and are born by being submerged under water.
• They can lay dozens of eggs up to 5 times during their life.• The life cycle from egg to larva to pupa to flying adult mosquito is 8 days
And it happens in the water. The adult mosquito can live up to a month.
• Mosquitoes usually rest inside houses (closets, behind furniture, curtains)
and the females are the ones that bite.
• They are capable of flying hundreds of meters looking for containers to lay their eggs.
• A few mosquitoes per house are capable of producing large dengue epidemics.
• The dengue mosquito does not breed in ditches, drains, canals, wetlands, rivers or lakes, therefore it is useless
pour bleach on them. Chlorine is harmful to aquatic life.
