Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My total footprint  is 5,571 kgs per year, compared to an averange of 8,182 kgs for Italy, and 3,791 kg (8,358 lbs) worldwide. My carbon footprint for travel is 257 kgs, it's shorter than my region's footprint as I use more public transport to go to school. For food is 2,188 kgs because I try not to waste and I eat local food for example cheese and meat. About perchases my carbon footprint is 232 kgs because I don't spend lot of money to buy new things or clothes. And finally for home my carbon footprint is 2,894 kgs, it's higher than my region's footprint because I live in a mountain village and it's quite cold so I heat my home 7 months per year with wood and it edmits a lot of CO2 in the atmosphere.
