Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon footprint and transportation

JulissaM

What is the most eco-friendly way to go from one place to another? Transportation emissions usually make up one of the largest portions of our individual carbon footprints. For that reason, evaluating transport options is a natural place to start.  An option we can take into consideration is riding your bike. This can also help reduce pollution, you don't need gas to ride a bike and it's a great form of exercise to stay healthy. If your destination is close by, go for a walk. It's another form of great exercise. Try buying a small car as not only for the aesthetic but they are kind of cute. They take up less road space, are easier to park, get better gas mileage, and so many of them are electric. What are some ways you can do to reduce carbon from transportation?
