Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

How can I reduce my carbon footprint?

Rares Mihail

To be honest, I do leave a carbon footprint quite often. Because I live at the outskirts, I often use family's car to go somewhere or to go home, especially when it's dark outside and I'm in the centre of the town. Still, I can reduce my carbon footprint by using my bike or by walking. By doing this, the carbon footprint will vanish and the air and soil will be a little better, but it will be good forever if we all reduce our footprint.

ANOTHER WAY YOU CAN REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT IS BUYING LESS STUFF. AND IF YOU DO NEED TO BUY THINGS LIKE CLOTHES BUYING SECOND HAND CLOTHES IS MUCH BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT THEN BUYING NEW THINGS. GROWING YOUR OWN FOOD IS ANOTHER THING YOU CAN DO AND IF THAT IS DIFFICULT THEN JUST BUYING FROM LOCAL BUSINESSES IS JUST BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT THEN BUYING FROM COMPANIES LIKE AMAZOM WHO NEED TO SHIP THINGS FAR AND QUICKLY.

Another way you can reduce your carbon footprint is by using less energy in your home. You can take shorter showers and wash dishes by hand instead of using a dishwasher. Also make sure that you turn off any appliances you have and lights when your finished with them so that energy isn't being spent. One more thing you can do is turning to solar power so that you're using natural energy and it wont contribute to greenhouse gases because you aren't producing any gases.
