Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Students are the future
After taking the time to fill in the Carbon Footprint Questionnaire I saw just how the small details of my life were making a massive impact on my future. I saw how just one plane ride to Hawaii dispelled over 4000 kgs of Carbon Dioxide into our atmosphere, and how throwing the plastic plate I used into the compost cost so much more than just a pesky mistake would. As humans, so much of our lives are taken up by what we buy and don't buy, what we need and what we don't. After seeing everything I've caused to make my planet suffer, I've understood that the smallest details of my life can truly be the most important. What I choose everyday in the grocery store and what I leave behind can cause a difference in seconds in the decision itself, but a difference of years in the aftermath. In my life, I can choose to help or hurt. In my life I can make as many differences as I allow myself because in the end we are in control. The new generation is growing up to a world that we have been told so many times will die if we don't 'fix it.' We're not here to fix, we're here to save. The planet doesn't need a handy man to duct tape the gaping wounds we've given it, but a warrior to fight for it and let it rest. As the students, we have all the power. And as inhabitants of the earth, we need to protect it.
