Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Your Impact

Josh_Yost

No matter where you live, you are bound to see litter somewhere or everywhere. Every year, about 9 billion tons of waste is dumped into the ocean worldwide. Now, you might be thinking, "Wow, some people out there are careless about the environment." But the truth is that you have most likely littered some over the course of your lifetime, we all have. "But I've barely littered any, it's not like it makes an impact, right?" But the truth is, it's that kind of mentality that puts 250 million tons of trash into the ocean every year just from the U.S. alone. So when you see someone litter, and they say, "It's just one piece," keep in mind that the one piece every once in a while can add up to the amount it has already.
