Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

How to reduce your carbon footprint
As I calculated my Carbon footprint I was continuously shocked by each categories’ results. Once I finally finished I was slightly above the average carbon footprint. I had originally thought that there was no way I could be higher than the average, but I was. To make sure I didn’t make a mistake I went back through the calculator to see if I had accidentally added something that wasn’t supposed to be there. As I looked through I figured out why mine and maybe others footprints were so high. According to what I saw when I checked how different buttons affected my footprint, anytime I showed that I reused, my footprint in that category would be significantly less. My purchases section was significantly smaller than average because I wear the worth out of my clothes and make sure not to buy an abundance of items that wouldn’t be fully used. The transportation version of this would be to bike or carpool. This section was the bulk of my carbon footprint, not only because of driving around a lot, but also because of flying. I didn’t realize how much flying in a plane would contribute to my carbon footprint. Though there is no really effective way to shorten your carbon footprint in this scenario, the best thing to do would be to drive when it’s possible even if it’s a slight inconvenience. By cutting back on purchases and the amount of gas you are using one can save money. Using this money people can invest in greener means of transportation and appliances. With these new things you can start to get back to what you love without having to worry about your carbon emissions. If this path is too hard, the most important thing I learned from calculating my carbon footprint is to make the most out of your carbon emissions and to not to hurt the environment on trivial things.
