Wants or Needs?

Is having the latest technology a want or a need?

How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Wants or Needs? >

do we need it or do we want it ?

Growing up we never really knew the difference between want and need. When you were a kid did you NEED the candy or did you WANT the candy? Now that you're older do you NEED new clothes or do you WANT them? We have to think before we act and keep in mind that we're hurting our environment. Buying fewer goods reduces our pollution, waste, and greenhouse gas percentages. Instead of buying many low-quality clothes buy fewer clothes of good quality. Not only does it save recourses but it also saves more textile waste from ending up in landfills. It is also proven that buying less is better than buying "green". Buying less is not only better for our environment but better for our happiness as well. An article called "Science Daily," says, "A new study found that people who consume less are happier than those who engage in other pro-environmental consumer behaviors, like buying environmentally friendly products." This quote really shows what I was talking about. I think that if studies are showing that buying less makes people happier then we should all start doing it. If studies are showing these facts then we should also keep in mind that we should think before we act, we should ask ourselves if it's a WANT or a NEED.
