Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

How I can reduce my carbon footprint.

LeScBOD

When I look back at my carbon footprint calculator. I realize that my output is a lot larger than the average U.S. citizen. This is not a good thing, part of this is because I don't have my car or form of transportation. Without this, I have to come up with different ways of getting myself around the city. I noticed that there were many things that I could do to reduce my footprint in my home. I should start using a lot more reusable equipment. A lot of times I use a one-use non-recyclable plastic bag to hold my food. If I get used to using more Tupperware and reusable equipment, my footprint could go down. Another thing I could do is be more mindful about what I'm doing in my daily life, I could turn off the lights more when I leave my room, which would not only conserve energy, but also money. Overall, my carbon footprint is more than it should be and I should be more mindful about what I eat, what I eat in, the equipment I use for day-to-day activities and much more.

Mooooooo

When calculating my carbon footprint I realized that flying in planes and going on road trips release a lot of carbon. So I would maybe not go on as many trips or find different ways of transplantation that don’t release as much carbon.
