Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

assignments and classwork
Although O'Dowd does a very good job of cutting back on the unnecessary use of paper we could still do better. Teachers should have more assignments and classwork done on the students computers, this way the usage of paper can be cut down and also it would help students be more organized by not have a bunch of papers that are easily lost, this also includes test.
I agree, many teachers tell us to do trivial assignments on whole sheets of paper when we can cut pages in half and share or do them online.
Even in science class, our labs are multiple sheets of paper! We uses so much paper in science class alone, it kind of shocks me. We also only uses these papers once, and what is the use in that if you're trying to tell us to save paper! I believe that o'dowd needs to revise that thinking.
This is an interesting idea, because I know some classes are really strict about MLA, but if the teachers let us print our papers double sided, then we would save HALF of all the paper used. According to the bishop O'dowd website on how many students are accepted each year, there should be around 1,200 to 1,400 students at O'dowd. If all the students had to submit a single sided 5 page essay, that would roughly be 7,000 sheets of paper. But if we double side printed them it would cut down to 3,500- which is a huge change. Another thing we could do to lessen the amount of paper used would be to have all textbooks available online. That way, less people would need to buy them and thus making the textbook companies have a smaller demand. Other than the paper being used for textbooks, the factories that print them out would also release less carbon into the atmosphere.
