Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Growing Food at Home

johnsonk19

Growing Food at Home can be a great way of reducing your own co2 emissions. If you think about how far food has to travel in order just to get to the supermarket that's already a lot of co2 being emitted. More co2 is added on top of that because you have to drive to the supermarket to get your food and then drive back home. If food is grown at home it doesn't decrease the amount of co2 that's emitted when food is traveling to the supermarket, but it does decrease the amount of co2 that you emit just driving to buy food. Also if you grow your own food it can also reduce your neighbor's co2 emissions because instead of them driving to the supermarket to pick up food you can just share your home grown food with your neighbors.
