Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

I agree with you. Having smog checks on a regular interval can help our environment a lot and decrease our carbon footprint. After researching a little bit, I found out that having smog checks can reduce 360 tons of air impurities every single day in California. This reduction of pollution can greatly decrease our carbon footprint. I remember when my dad took his car for a smog check and he found out that there was excess emissions from the car. Therefore, the car was repaired and my carbon footprint decreased because I also ride in that car.
