Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Improvements

Ellenma

I have realized that the food section in my carbon footprint has the biggest value because I mostly eat meat everyday and meat causes greenhouse gases. On the other hand, vegetarian food is very rare for me yet still vegetarian meals are much healthier for the environment. Thinking about it made me wonder how can I improve it. Then I realized that by having a balanced meal every week can make a huge difference in my carbon footprint. For example by changing from eating meat all week to having meat half a week and vegetarian food the other half is something that I can work on.

Question: How do you improve your carbon footprint?

hahahahahah

I agree that we can improve our diet with eating less meat. Since the meat industry produces 3.1 gigatons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year, their way of making money is having others eating more meat. Us, consumers eating more meat would make them want to produce more meat so they could make money. Reducing the amount could lower the emission of methane and other gas to the atmosphere. I think that with just eating at least 2 vegetarian meals could really help over time.
