Wants or Needs?

Is having the latest technology a want or a need?

How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Wants or Needs? >

is it really needed?

hahahahahah

Nowadays, people often buy things such as clothes, electronics, and much more without realizing if it is really needed or not. For examples people love to have new electronics, but producing them and throwing them away has many negative causes. Producing the different components need many resources that can be contaminated. After producing it, people buy the product. However, many people want the newest products. They would throw the old ones away when they could still be used. When electronics are improperly disposed and end up in landfills, toxic chemicals are released, impacting the earth's air, soil, water and ultimately, human health. Lots of times those were just wants, do we really need it?

I agree. people buy stuff only thinking about what they want. They don't think about the part that it doesn't really help the environment. It only wastes energy and resources. It causes more pollution in earth. People should only buy stuff if they NEED it

Agreed. Why are people spending precious money on things like makeup, handbags, electronics, and toy without thinking about our environment and what negative effects it has on the environment. As “hahahahahah” has said, kids nowadays buy electronics and want everything new that has just came out, and since they have bought a new device they throw their old one away that is still in perfectly good conditions and can still be used for at least 2 or more years. So, we should really consider what we NEED and what we WANT.

I agree. However, many people are not willing to give up these things, so I think it could be at least improved if people put in an effort to find and purchase items made with clean energy, recycled material, or handmade items in the case of bags, toys, and clothes instead of choosing the convenience of factory-made and mass-produced items. If you're going to spend money on a bunch of low-quality items that you'll only use for a few years why not spend that money on good-quality items that will last a long time and reduce waste?
