Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.

But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?

In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

Joshua V.

I do think Climate Change is real & Human-caused due to the overuse of fossil fuels (including coal and natural gas are some examples) that are caused by Human production. These fuels contain carbon inside of them, and when burned they release these carbons into the atmosphere. Too much carbon in the atmosphere needed to support life on Earth can start to warm up the Planet. But, daily things like driving cars, to activities like flying on planes also contribute to a large amount of carbon emissions. In an article called, Issue Brief | The Growth in Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Commercial Aviation (2019, revised 2022) stated “commercial airplanes and large business jets contribute 10 percent of U.S. transportation emissions.” With airplanes causing 10% of the greenhouse gas emissions, one way people could solve this problem would be to use a cleaner gas to power the planes.
