Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

I think the reason why there are different amounts of carbon in different parts of the world is because of the economics of that country and the traditions of not wasting food and stuff. For example with Japan they have a great economy but all of their citizens are committed to not wasting food and plastic bags and also just not wasting energy they also mostly use public transportation. But in America the average is around ten thousand kilograms  of carbon.which is much higher than Japan's five thousand. This is because they all have their own vehicles and they aren't efficient. Another reason why is because Americans buy  more goods and heat their houses too much. So overall the big reason why is in fact the traditions and economics of the country.:)
