Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Some changes that I can take to lower my carbon footprint include:

1. Composting food waste, so it doesn’t go to waste
2. Using reusable bags when going grocery shopping
3. Switching lights off when you leave the room
4. Not turning on the lights, and using sunlight
5. Using public transportation when possible instead of cars
when you have to travel short distances, walk or use a bike
6. Carpool
7. Turning of the faucet when you brush your teeth
8. Taking shorter showers
9. Planting plants
