Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

how do you get a low carbon footprint?
Reduce your energy consumption, eat at a lower trophic level, and REDUCE!
If you are driven to school, try to take the bus or carpool more often. If you live close enough, walk or ride a bike. At home (and at school), turn off the faucet when while you wash your hands, and turn off the water while you brush your teeth. Take shorter showers. Use water only if you truly need it. With energy, the same is true. You could try turning off the lights in a room when you aren't using it, or using less heating or air conditioning. With food, you could lessen your meat and dairy consumption, or eat more local and organic food. Reuse and recycle when you can. On the carbon footprint calculator, when I applied the above tips, the bar at the bottom of the screen with individual values was lower, and the total footprint was lower.
To reduce your carbon footprint, you should ride more often with someone as a carpool, reduce energy usage of electronics and home appliances around your house, and reduce the amount of your waste by composting and recycling.

These are really good ideas and it will really help to lower my footprint.
Also ^ another example could be unplugging cables that you are not using ( phone chargers ext). Also getting solar panels, its kinda expensive but in the long run you would benefit from it by getting a lower carbon footprint, and your producing less energy plus your families energy bill would go down.
Yea tend to always keep my phone and laptop charger plugged in but now i know not to.
The number one way to reduce your carbon footprint is to eliminate things you don't need. Such as do you really need that brand new phone or those brand new shoes. Another way to lower your carbon footprint is to find alternative methods to get around. If you live in a city you can probably walk or ride many different forms of public transportation. Whereas if you live in a small town you might be able to walk or bike to places that are close.
Also try not to eat as much beef because cows produce a lot of methane which is bad for the environment.
Way's to reduce your carbon foot print is by getting your needs, and not wants. Little things around the house help too, making sure the water faucet is turned off, turning off all lights when you leave a room help. And make sure to reduce air travel! They produce a lot of extra carbon dioxide.
We should start putting these ideas to use. I'm gonna try to start.
