Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

National Earth day once a month
In order to save our Earth I feel one day out of each month in the United States we should all commit to reserve energy. To do this we could reduce use of phones and computers, turn off lights in class rooms and use solar energy and not use lights until the sunset. By putting this action in affect as a country we could make an big effect in our carbon footprint which could possibly save our atmosphere and give us time to come up with new methods and ways of life that will not destroy our atmosphere.
I totally agree with you and all the things you said we should, but I also feel that during that day in every month we should do things for the environment and the society like planting more plants or cleaning up the streets.
I also agree, but it would have to be a National Holiday, so people could get off school and work, so they would have no excuse for not participating. Not only would a day like this help the Earth, but it would also just help the U.S. become a more environmentally friendly place.
I disagree. Earth day is not very effective begin with. If you turn off all the lights in your house you your self are using less energy but the power plant will still continue to produce energy at the same rate so in reality you are not saving any. Also industry being the major source of carbon emissions does not slow down on that day. Cows are even more harmfull than cars are to the enviornment and they don't just stop burping and deficating for a day. The only thing that earth day is useful for is getting people thing about how to save the environment.
Thats exactly why he said earth day should be every month.
I totally agree. I think many people today aren't always aware of how much pollution they create and how big there carbon footprint is. Even though doing it in the entire United States isn't that realistic a great place to start is at O' Dowd. Every month we could spend a day to turn off all of the lights in each classroom and we can make it a competition in which grade conserves the most. Doing small things like turning off lights and using reusable water bottles can drastically change the amount of pollution at Bishop O' Dowd. Recently, my family and I have been having a similar idea where once a week we see how much water we have used and try to reduce the amount the next week.

I agree on having earth day once a month. On this day lights should be turned off, you should try to walk places more or ride a bike and not use car, and you could help pick up trash on a local highway or help pick up trash at your school on a smaller scale. Having earth day once a month will also help raise awareness on problems that effects our environment like air pollution and trash which doesn't just effect us and our environment but also Marine life in the ocean.
Doing it twelve times a year will not make people twelve times as aware.
doing this would be great to reduce waste and save energy
If we had national earth day at least once a month then these problems would be on everyone's mind and then there could be more action towards all of pollution in the world.
I agree. The more exposure we have to the problem the more people will be willing to contribute.
