Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint (North Carolina)

anthonyf18

My name is Anthony and I am 17 years old. I go to Mooresville High School which is located in Mooresville, North Carolina in the United States.

My Carbon Footprint
Transportation - 5338 kgs
Home - 1579 kgs
Food - 8604 kgs
Purchases - 175 kgs
Total Footprint - 15696 kgs

My carbon footprint was below average for my region where I live. My results surprised me because I thought that my total carbon footprint would be above average but it was actually less. The majority of my carbon footprint came from food. I expected this to be high because I eat a lot of food in my house so I can be able to gain weight and muscle for the sports that I play.  I could use less transportation to save gas and the Earth from polluting it to much and to decrease my results in this section of my carbon footprint. I travel a lot with my friends to sports and to go hangout and get food. If I start to conserve going out with friends and eating out then I will be helping the Earth and myself out a ton.
