Less transportation
Decreasing the amount you drive and fly would reduce your carbon footprint immensely. I found that it was the biggest factor of my carbon footprint by a mile. Taking less flights would help greatly, but there are other ways too. Whether it's waking up a little earlier to catch the school bus, or going a little out of your way to pick up friends on your way to an event so you don't all have to drive separately, all of these actions are very helpful.
I agree that transportation takes a huge impact on our earth. I think that if you are traveling a very short distance you should walk or ride your bike. If you reduce transportation you can use it when you absolutely have to.
