Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

The Truth

My name is Caroline G. I am from Mooresville NC, in the USA and I'm 15. My carbon footprint was very surprising and also made me think.  My total was 21,854kgs of CO2. In my opinion my total was way too far above the average and it made me think a lot about the future. A majority of my total was from transportation, which was a high amount of 16,428kgs. When this total popped up on my screen I couldn't believe it and it wasn't at all what I was expecting. From this experience I could say that I learned a lot about reducing a high carbon footprint. Something big that I could start doing to reduce my high footprint is to, start carpooling or even walking a lot more often.

My total was 13,000 so maybe we can cut down on transportation to help the environment

I also agree with your feelings on cutting back on using cars by walking.
