Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My carbon footprint

lilywestmoreland

Lily Westmoreland ( Mooresville, North Carolina ) Age: 14

My total carbon footprint came out to be 14,316 which would be considers a little above average, the majority of my carbon footprint came from transportation and home. I was surprised by my results because I expected to be below or average but I was above average. In the future I think I can lower my carbon footprint by lowering my transportation by carpooling and even walking more and I could start changing things around the house like switching to florissant lightbulbs, use less gas, and wash my clothes in cold water rather than warm.

I like your post. Walking and car pooling will help a lot with your carbon footprint.

Nice carbon footprint. But walking really would help your carbon footprint.

I also think that would car pulling would lower it but besides that it isn't nearly as high as mine which is good because mine was in the 20,000s.

I agree, most of my transportation came from transportation as well.
