Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Ryan's Footprint
My name is Ryan I am 16. I recycle a lot of aluminum and cardboard. My carbon footprint was below the region average I live in. My total is 12,321kg of CO2 per year. The only area I was close to the average was in the Home category. My family has 5 people in it and we have a lot of trash. I expected to get the low results I got because we don’t do a lot that causes pollution to the Earth. I wasn’t surprised because I try not to harm the Earth but was a little surprised that the regions numbers were high in a lot of areas. I learned to keep doing what we are doing in my family to keep our footprint low. We can continue to recycle and turn off lights. We can purchases recycled items and limit trips to not use gasoline so much. Maybe we can offset someone that is not being ecofriendly. We have to care because it is the only place we have to live and oxygen is important. Our class data compared to other countries is high. Countries that our poor don’t have all the things we have and so there isn’t much trash. They use everything they can. Other countries that are same as us are usually lower too because we throw stuff away too quick.I liked participating on the discussion board because all the different answers everyone had. I would think that most people would be the same but i learned different people use way less or way more that I do.
I think you have a great view of Earth. Most teenagers nowadays think very little of the Earth, but it's great that you care so much about our planet ![]()
