Do agave plants bloom every year?

The agave plant's flower is one of its most unusual features. The vast majority of agave species will develop one tall flower stalk after several years of growth, sometimes reaching quite tall heights. The main plant normally dies after the agave blooms, but offsets, or "pups," are often produced and can be replanted to grow new agave plants.
