Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint

jessieg

Hello! My name is Jessie and I am from Orange Park, FL. While doing my carbon footprint calculator I noticed I scored relatively low on all points but Home Energy. I actually scored a lot higher than average, and I believe this is due to how many lights we have that turn on at the same time in our living room, along with our television usage.

We usually have the lights dimmed or off completely but having them off more often would definitely help cut down on our power usage. Including turning the television off when we are not directly in front of it, instead of letting it idle for most of the day.

Working towards not using so much power and giving the Earth a little break from all the light and pollution will be a longstanding goal for me. Watching all the turmoil we put the Earth through day after day is sad, and I do not wish a barren, struggling world for my children.
