Hello my name is Peter and I live in Mooresville, North Carolina. I am 17 years old and I go to Mooresville Senior High School. My total carbon footprint was 15,370kgs. Below is the results for each section:
Transportation : 7,476 kgs
Home : 3,999 kgs
Food : 3,315 kgs
Purchases : 580 kgs
My total, to my surprise was below average. Majority of my carbon footprint comes from my transportation, and my house. This is because I do have a job and drive a lot. And my family uses a lot of heating and cooling for our home. One thing I learned is that I do not purchase as much as I thought. My carbon footprint was 580 kgs for my purchases, which was greatly below average for our region. For food my footprint was 3,315 kgs which was just about average I was not surprised by that because I do not eat at restaurants a lot. One way I could reduce my footprint in my house would be to get an automated thermostat to efficiently heat and cool our home. For transportation I could try to ride with others in one car instead of separate cars, or even start to ride my bicycle around which would not only reduce my carbon footprint but it would promote a healthy lifestyle.
