Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Ways to reduce carbon footprint
I believe some ways i could reduce my carbon footprint would be to get a more fuel efficient vehicle and use power less.
I live in Guatemala and the way I produce the most carbon is due to transportation. A way to decrease this amount is by using public transportation that I can get from school. Also I should try to use my bicycle of walk more often to places near my home.
I certainly think using a more fuel efficient vehicle would reduce your carbon footprint but there are also other ways to reduce that number without getting an ecofriendly vehicle. According to the Carbon Fund, you could save a lot more CO2 by doing simple things in your driving habits such as: accelerating slowly and smoothly, driving the speed limit, maintaining a steady speed, and being able to anticipate your starts and stops. The Carbon Fund also suggests keeping your tires properly inflated which in turn can save 400-700 pounds of carbon per year! Becoming an efficient driver and keeping your car properly maintained is also suggested by "Eco Switch." Another factor that could reduce one's carbon footprint in driving, is using a carpool system. My friend and I carpooled to school every single day which was great because we lived next door and we could easily reduce our consumption of gas. Sharing rides to work or school cuts down the number of cars on the roa d and the corresponding emissions produced.

I live in Guatemala and I also believe that the best way to reduce our carbon footprint is by decreasing transportation usage but I believe that it is really difficult to decrease transportation because it makes our lives way easier. Also, in Guatemala, public transportation is dangerous so we are limited.
