Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

What country causes the most CO2 emissions?
Who?
probably china or america
developing countries since they dont have advanced technologies which reduce co2 emissions in work places, homes and transport
I believe that the countries that cause most carbon emissions are developed countries because they have more people with access to airplanes, cars, etc. They also have more technology and more industry that cause some sort of carbon emission.

63% of the total carbon emissions are produced by developing countries because these countries are economically, industrially and technologically "behind" and they have to catch up to those countries that are already developed. This is good in a way because the more countries start to develop, the more prosperity we can reach in the world but it has a negative side, which is climate change.
I agree with cali-lopes, and after doing some research I found that our hypothesis was correct. The top 5 countries with the highest CO2 emissions are China, the United States, Russia, India and Japan. Highly developed countries with a large population.
I agree with user 20535 because they use these technologies the most.
I disagree with dorive because even though developing countries don't have advanced technologies to reduce CO2 emissions, the top contributors to CO2 in the world are the countries with a large population since they all engage in activities that harm the environment in this way. The use of all of these products and industrialization in big countries are what cause CO2.
I agree with user sofiamontenegro
According to the UCSUSA, in 2011 China ranked #1 In Carbon Dioxide emissions. Their CO2 emissions from energy consumption was 8715.31 million metric tons..27% of the entire world's. This is largely due to the amount of manufacturing plants in China and the burning of coal. This air pollution has been taking a toll on the public health of the Chinese for a long time, and more than 1/3 of the population breathes 'unhealthy air'. According to Huffington Post, effects on the human body can include lung cancer, asthma, heart disease, and stroke. Being Chinese myself, I visit Beijing about once every year and the environment is vastly different. The skies are smoggy, gray with not a cloud in sight. Wherever you go, you see people with masks covering their mouth and nose because of the terrible air pollution. It is really saddening to see young children having to grow up in an environment where they have to worry about what they breathe in.

I agree with Sofia too that the highly developed countries with a large population cause the most CO2 but I believe that we should not only blame it on those countries. All countries create CO2 and all countries are responsible for a certain amount of CO2 in our world. Also, several countries are reducing their carbon emission and have made promises to reduce a certain amount in a certain year.
