Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Climate Change 2

ggaitan

America is by far one of the most advanced countries in the world. We have many things that contribute to the global warming problem. In America, we own phones, many families are a two car family, and we even take things for granted, like our water and food. There are many simple things that can be solved, but in order for that to happen, we need to be less lazy and start. We waste so much food every year that could be feeding starving people who have nothing. We also have phones that we all care so much for but don’t realize what it takes to make them, and keep them charged. These little things are causing big problems and if we don’t change our ways soon, we won’t have any of these things anymore.

Human’s are our only hope to fix these problems before it’s too late. As an American I feel like it’s my job to help our country, who are very lucky to live in the place we do, to cut down our carbon footprint. If we really want to fix this, we can all take simple little tasks of unplugging our chargers for the wall when not in use, taking reusable bags to the grocery st ore, and using reusable water bottles instead of plastic. We can also do things at home like turning off lights when leaving the room and turning off the water when we are brushing our teeth, washing our hair, and washing our hands. If we don’t put these things into action soon, our lives can be in severe danger.
