Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Climate Change
Climate change. We hear about it every day, but do we really know what it is? You may think you do, but just letting you know, it’s not just the weather getting hotter. Yes that is one aspect of it, but climate change is so much more than that. Though climate change almost completely agreed upon, there is still debate on whether or not humans have a large effect on what is happening to our planet.
The past 150 years have held a massive amount of change for our earth. Not only has the temperature risen drastically, rainfall distribution has changed and the extinction rate of plants and animals has gone way up. Human activity has played a big role in climate changed, especially in recent years. Warming of the atmosphere and the oceans has mostly been caused by the carbon dioxide produced by humans. Burning coal, gasoline, and natural gas to produce energy and to drive cars, along with other transportations, are the main contributors to our CO2 emissions. Carbon dioxide is the main factor in warming our atmosphere.
You may think that climate change may just come and go, but there are long term effects that we must keep in mind. Of course there are the rising seas levels, which threaten ocean side cities. The higher temperatures and unnatural rain patterns have increased the chances of wildfires. A good example of this is California. California has been in a severe drought for the past several, and wildfires have been a big issue. Climate change is very real and humans have played a big role in it, so let’s stop the debate and take action.
